Title: Glucare Healthcare Assistant

Job Summary
The purpose of this role is to assist healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality and effective care. The Healthcare Assistant is responsible for providing basic administrative and practical functional support to the nursing team, ensuring the clinic operates smoothly and efficiently.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist consultants and nurses during their clinics with chaperoning, scans, tests, phlebotomy, and much more
- Support qualified practitioners as directed in clinic preparation
- Maintain nursing supplies by checking stock to determine inventory levels; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies
- Clean equipment and instruments as needed and directed by the medical team
- Document daily checklists and record room temperatures as required
- Ensure basic room and equipment needs within the clinic are met
- Maintain continuity among nursing teams by communicating and logging files, follow-up reports, and internal administrative requirements
- Provide basic assistance to patients, offering directions, chaperoning, escorting them to rooms/reception, assisting with mobility, and ensuring safety, privacy, and dignity at all times
- Be aware of safeguarding policies, both local and national, and report as necessary
- Respond to any emergency situations, escalating immediately to the medical team, employing techniques in line with the scope of practice and associated training as directed and in accordance with clinic protocols and guidance
Qualifications
- Able to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in the healthcare field a positive
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and apply sound judgment while working with high-volume/high-expectation participants
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Able to maintain helpful, caring and courteous relationships with patients and colleagues
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Able to present information in a thorough, systematic fashion and perform follow-up routinely
- Ability to manage and oversee multiple tasks simultaneously, ability to prioritize tasks based on degree of urgency
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to develop solutions recommend changes and follow through with implementation
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a healthcare assistant. Qualifications to include either:
- A QCF/NVQ Level 2 or above in Health and Social Care or a QCF Level 3 or above in Health or a Care Certificate
- A Degree/Diploma in nursing with a time-expired NMC PIN
- A Student Nurse with at least 12 weeks of clinical experience (must be hands-on clinical experience, not in an observer capacity)
- Established experienced HCAs with no care certificate or QCF/NVQ may apply if they have 12 months of experience in the last 3 years within the UK (Private/NHS hospital, Prison, Care Home, or the MoD)
- Experience in the private sector
- Experience in phlebotomy
- High level of communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of customer care
- IT skills
