An opportunity has arisen in the Catheter Suite for a Band 3 assistant to join the team. The post holder must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and will work within the multi-disciplinary team in the Catheter Suite. The role will involve transferring patients to and from the department, supporting the department in tasks such as cleaning and stocking the department. Also to assist in patient care within our department for patients undergoing a variety of cardiac procedures.
To support the wider team in looking after patients undergoing cardiac and neuro-intervention procedures.
Responsible for own actions, ensuring all patient interactions/observations are communicated to the appropriate healthcare practitioner.
Undertake agreed clinical and non-clinical tasks, extending range following training in defined practices.
Ensure referral to the appropriate healthcare practitioner where appropriate, for example if any concerns are identified before or after a procedure.
Help with the collection/transfer of patients to and from the Catheter Suite department.
Prepare the documentation and packs for pre-assessment clinic, and for outpatient clinics.

6. Demonstrate technical and/or practical skills to ensure optimum patient management, for example preparing patients for procedures and recovering patients following their procedure under supervision of a trained colleague and once competencies are met.
7. Plan your daily workload, including stocking and cleaning of identified medical and non-medical equipment, for example, Cath Labs, recovery area, procedure trolleys.
8. Check stock levels within labs and escalate any shortages to clinical teams and stock personnel.
9. Help to unpack stock, store stock in appropriate store cupboard working closely with the stock personnel.
10. Assist with personal patient care, for example, feeding, assisting with mobility needs.
11. Support less experienced members of staff in their orientation to the ward and role.
12. Support the team in expected and unexpected clinical events requiring high but unpredictable levels of physical effort according to patient dependency/clinical need.
13. Support clinical teams during medical emergencies such as cardiac arrests.
14. Support staff and patients exposed to difficult situations arising in the clinical area e.g. after receipt of bad news or following an unexpected event, for example, a delay in
treatment time
15. Maintain a clean, safe environment ensuring adherence to Trust standards of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control at all times.
16. Promote and monitor adherence to Health and Safety and Trust policy designed to protect healthcare staff and service users from known hazards.
