To be responsible for the 24-hour operation of the Short Breaks respite service, and for the operational delivery of a safe, caring, effective, person-centred service. To always observe best practice guidelines and lead with integrity, professionalism, and empathy, within agreed resource boundaries, to provide optimal standards of care and support for people with a learning disability, mental health difficulties and complex or challenging needs. To assist the Trust in achieving the organisation’s Visions and Values. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly within all the learning disabilities health services, as need arises.

Key Responsibilities

  • provide leadership to an 6-bedded short breaks service.
  • responsible for relationship management, registration processes and the project management of delivering action plans to meet the regulatory requirements of CQC.
  • provide line management, including management of performance, lead and motivate the team
  • ensure regular supervision, appraisal and personal development plans and training needs identified and where possible met.
  • ensure that effective communication
  • ensure that the necessary systems & protocols for the delivery of a safe & supportive service are in place, include Safeguarding protocols.
  • ensure that the agenda of social inclusion is reflected in interventions offered and implemented.
  • develop and implement strategies that promote an environment of user involvement
  • work with the Service Manager & Head of Social Care to agree clear and deliverable objectives and to ensure they are implemented and monitored
  • ensure compliance with all statutory, financial, health & safety & employment requirements, including ensuring that all staff fulfill the requirements of statutory and mandatory training.
  • ensure services is delivered within agreed budget, including the achievement of agreed cost improvement plans, where required.
  • Participate in the on call rota.
